Hello. As stated on our about page, we are known as Ephemera. We are a highly-complex dissociative identity disorder system who are survivors of OA, or organized abuse. Dissociative identity disorder, for lack of a briefer way to describe it, is a condition that develops when early childhood trauma prevents the brain from properly integrating various memories and personality states, resulting in "multiple personalities", or alters, all sharing a body and brain. There is much discourse surrounding many aspects of DID, and we are not here to debate them. This is simply our understanding of the disorder we have spent our whole life adapting to and with. Please keep in mind that we are not professionals, in mental health or any other field. We are simply survivors of horrific abuse, and desire a place to share our story and resources on our healing journey.
We are not a gifted writer, and that, in addition to the nature of this disorder often requiring the use of first-person-plural language, means that this blog is likely to have numerous grammatical and spelling mistakes. It is likely that an overseer or similar part of our system will return to posts and edit them later, for the sake of them being written with better English generally. Often, when writing, we are not in the most coherent state of mind to begin with.
We will attempt to sign off posts with small tags to indicate which alter wrote that particular post. The tag may be a letter, symbol, emoji, alias, et cetera. We will generally avoid using our given names in posts. The next post we intend to write is one containing a glossary of terms and acronyms that will be used frequently on this blog. Following that, a post containing a collection of links to resources. We intend to blog at least semi-regularly. There may be days where multiple posts are made, and there may be times when there are no posts for multiple days or weeks. We intend to stick to this project, but do acknowledge that life gets in the way very frequently.
Once more, this blog functions primarily as a diary, a safe and anonymous place for us to vent. We are doubtful that anybody will see this site, aside from those who we share the link with, which, truthfully, may be nobody at all. If you have stumbled here, I suppose you can consider yourself somewhat lucky.
Thank you for reading, if you did. Peace -Ro
